Hardcore Superstar -Beg For It(2009)

Hardcore Superstar is a band that initially reminded me of Deathstars and The 69 Eyes. Thus far I mainly based myself upon the glamorous image of the quartet from Gothenburg. Yet they appeared to have an identity of their own by blending sleaze rock with thrash metal riffs. The name “street metal” was born. A bit of decadence, rocking but catchy, from time to time some harsh riffs and for the rest no pretension. But this first encounter is a fine one. You notice that these guys have bands...

deeds of flesh

Deeds of Flesh was created back in mid 1993' by Jacoby Kingston, Erik Lindmark and Joey Heaslet. Before Deeds of Flesh, we were all in different bands and all felt that we were being held back and knew what we could create together, so we formed Deeds of Flesh. Our goal at the time was to push the envelope , so to speak, in the current scene with a more technical, intense style of song writing. After taking 3 months to write the first CD entitled “Gradually Melted”, we released it through...

Gorgoroth

Hailing from Norway in the midst of the black metal boom of 1992, the band's early line-up featured vocalist Hat, guitarist Infernus and drummer Goatpervertor. The moniker had been, naturally, borrowed from Tolkien who had christened the uplands of Mordor Gorgoroth. A demo entitled A Sorcery Written In Blood was recorded in 1994 with the help of bassist Kjettar. The band's debut was a slab of raw black metal featuring a guest appearance by Samoth of Emperor on bass. Samoth a church burner,...

Watain

Watain was formed in 1998 with the goal of injecting repulsion and darkness into the Black metal scene, to show the misled masses of degenerated rebels and punks that the cult is not a place for them to thread upon. A 7" entitled The essence of Black Purity was released by Grim Rune Productions and got a generally good response in the underground circuits. After that Watain signed to Drakkar productions and released the much praised fullengthalbum Rabid Death's Curse, a monument of depraved...

Opeth

Back in 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden a band was formed by vocalist David Isberg. Although the bank performed Swedish death metal, they also added other influences and acoustic instrumentation to their sound. However, the band broke up when David Isberg invited guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt to join without the whole band either knowing about it or agreeing to it. In the end, all the original band members left and only Mikael Akerfeldt and David Isberg remained. The band's name comes from a...
